Hotel Huis van Bewaring - Bijzonder boutique hotel in historisch pand

Pros: Almost everything, it's a beautiful and curious place, an old prison; it's different and interesting.

Cons: You have to ring the bell at reception to be attended to, and while that's not necessarily a bad thing, when you arrive at the hotel very late and have to ring the bell, it's a little awkward to think that you're bothering someone.

Lovely hotel, great location and value

Pros: The building is amazing. It is a converted prison. The reception was very kind and helpful. They gave me information about the history of the hotel when I asked. My room was very large with a four poster bed, and was great value for money. The hotel is centrally located and a minutes walk from the shops.

Cons: No lift but understandable why. Not easy to walk up stairs with a suitcase.

Pros: Nice hotel in the centre of Almelo. Small room and not very well isolated for the noise in the hotel, but definitely to recommend and I will return at my next stay in Almelo

Pros: The room was big and so was the bed, Tv could be bigger but it was enough. It was quite nice experience to sleep in ex prison 😊

Nice aesthetics, polite service

Pros: The people working there were all super polite and very helpful. (!) Liked the aesthetics of the entire place. And I really liked the style and colours of the particular room, it looked a bit gothic and fit my halloween stay perfectly. ;) Central location: easy to walk to Almelo's center or the train station. Breakfast was nice.

Cons: Hotel might want to put some bleach on the white linen cause there were stains, but other than that, the room was clean and comfy.

Would recommend this for this unique experience.

Pros: It was a very unique experience. Having the luxury of staying in what used to be three cell blocks that are now beautifully renovated.

Cons: We opted not to have breakfast as we found the price to be a bit high.

Great for a stopover

Pros: Perfect location for us. Staff were friendly and spoke English. A few flights of stairs up to our room so probably not suited for someone with impaired mobility. Room was well decorated and clever use of space. Bed was comfortable and furnishings modern. Couldn’t get regular TV channels but that just might be me. The wifi didn’t reach my room but worked in other areas of the hotel. Paid parking on hotel grounds but not many spaces so best to get there early.

Cons: It’s just a small thing, but the bathroom had no door and water pressure was very low. Still a lovely place to stay though. Basin was outside the bathroom, but I imagine this would be keeping in line with original plumbing specs from when the building was used as a prison.

Great stay in a unique place

Pros: Unique location and nicely renovated building and rooms.

Cons: In our initial room the TV didn’t work. The friendly staff upgraded us however to another room. Great service in the end! Some small things that could be improved in room A22; soap dispenser not well mounted, faucet is leaking, tv is not mounted level and one of the coffee machines is not functioning

Pros: Hotel is good, but the most important is the stuff. Jordi was at the reception when we came. He is just so polite, so nice, so patient. He has walked numerous times for us, to any questions he was happy to answer. He was also so friendly when we told we were from Armenia, the first Christian country. Just a superb service! Jordi good luck with your job!
